Coldbrook, Nova Scotia

The Coldbrook Community Association is representative of the homeowners and businesses within the Coldbrook boundary through an elected Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting normally held in February. CCA is currently registered with the Registry of Joint Stocks and maintains stewardship of parks/trails through signed leases with the Municipality of the County of Kings. Also, the Board is responsible for the use and maintenance of the Heritage Hall located at 2833 Lovett Road and cemetery on Highway 1.

Currently, the Board consists of six members with the executive of Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary. Meetings are normally on a monthly basis and can be called by the Chair. Records are maintained in a file cabinet located at the Heritage Hall. The Constitution/By-laws have been recently revised and updated.

The CCA has been very active; however, there is no record of a previous financial review or audit from the information on hand even though several persons have held the Treasurer’s office.

In compliance with the CCA Constitution/By-laws, a financial review is authorized for the two calendar years 2019 and 2020 financial operations and relevant Board approvals.

• Operations are based on the “cash accounting” method
• Minutes and financial information are maintained in binders
• Treasurer is available as needed

The Board seeks proposals from individuals or small firms outlining their procedures/processes in conducting the review, costs, reporting to the Board, and presentation at the Annual General Meeting.

Please submit your proposal in writing by November 30, 2020, to:

Notice: Coldbrook Playground Maintenance Underway

The Municipality of the County of Kings recently inspected the playgrounds that are the responsibility of the Coldbrook Community Association (CCA). These playgrounds include Tammie Park, Brandon’s Place, and Bess View Park. The inspection discovered various safety issues and quickly closed specific equipment to protect everyone from the dangers. The CCA is working closely with the Municipality to ensure the parks are restored to a level that provides a safe place for children to play. Some repairs are taking place now, the rest will continue in the spring.

During this time, we ask that everyone respects the caution tape and snow fencing that is being used to mark the closed equipment.

Thanks for your patience as we work through the repairs.
